Glazer?s opens $14M facility in Fountain Lakes

By: Nadine Boon // October 05, 2007

St. Charles, MO (September 2007) --- Glazer?s have settled into their Missouri headquarters in Fountain Lakes Commerce Center on the growing Highway 370 corridor in St. Charles. The 238,000-square-foot facility provides offices for their sales force and their Missouri Headquarters. About 200,000-square-foot of warehouse space houses 13,000 domestic and international brands of wine and spirits. Their investment exceeded $14 million in real and personal property.

The St. Charles facility services their markets in the St. Louis region, southern Missouri, Columbia and Springfield. Glazer?s state-of-the-art picking equipment and elevated conveyor system select the cases and speed them to the warehouse door to a waiting tractor trailer (which is in a fully enclosed dock).

Their single largest customer is Schnuck?s supermarkets. Nearly 50 percent of their sales occur between now through the holiday season.

Glazer?s employs 250 and will add more as their business grows. ?Our location here in St. Charles will increase our ability to hire good employees,? said Scott Westerman, president of Glazer?s Missouri. ?In our previous location, we had potential employees say ?pass? on accepting a position where we were.?

Scott added, ?This facility is fully air conditioned and our employees are very excited to be here. We have also incorporated a training facility and have utilized technology to improve working conditions and conserve energy.? Conference room lights turn on based on movement or entry into the room and turn off on exiting the room. When half a room is used, only half the lights turn on.

Glazer?s new St. Charles location is north of Highway 370 in Fountain Lakes off New Town Boulevard at One Glazer Way. Headquartered in Dallas, Glazer?s is a privately held company with 45 branch offices in 12 states.

?Glazer?s is a great addition to the corporate brands and regional offices such as Coca Cola, Sysco Foods, Cardinal Health and others which the City of St. Charles has built over the last 10 years in Fountain Lakes,? said Nadine Boon, director of economic development for the City of St. Charles.
