10 Business Projects Funded by EDC during 370 Corridor?s 1st Decade
ST. CHARLES COUNTY, MO (November 16, 2006) ? In light of tonight?s regional 10-year celebration of growth along the Highway 370 corridor, the Economic Development Center of St. Charles County is proudly recognizing the 10 business projects the organization funded along the corridor during this dynamic first decade, including two new projects in 2006.
?The first decade of the Highway 370 corridor has been exciting to watch as it unfolds on both sides of the Missouri River, and the EDC is proud to have provided crucial financial assistance to 10 projects that are helping to make the corridor one of the fastest growing mixed-use districts in the region,? said Greg Prestemon, EDC president and CEO.
Through 504 loan issuance and Industrial Revenue Bonds, the EDC has helped attract $34.5 million in project development to the 370 corridor and created or retained 586.5 jobs in the last 10 years. EDC-funded projects ranged from local manufacturers to lodging and fast food, all so far in the city of St. Charles.
?There is nearly 2,000 more acres ready for development in St. Charles County and St. Louis County along the 370 corridor, and the EDC looks forward to working with even more businesses as they consider growing there,? Prestemon said.
Tonight?s regional celebration for the Highway 370 Corridor will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Foundry Art Centre, 520 North Center in historic St. Charles. This free, catered reception will include special visionary awards to Balke Brown Associates, MB Properties, The Millstone Company, TRiSTAR Business Communities, and Whittaker Homes. Regional awards will be presented to St. Louis County Executive Charlie Dooley and St. Charles County Council President Bob Schnur. The public is welcome.
